🏆 ICE BREAKERS vs. THE JUICE: DC CHAMPIONSHIP SET FOR A RUBBER MATCH

After a season in which the Ice Breakers and The Juice have already gone toe-to-toe twice, the DC Division championship comes down to a third and final meeting.

And judging by the first two, there may not be much separating these teams.

The Ice Breakers won both regular-season matchups, but neither came easily. On July 26, they escaped with a 5–4 victory. When the teams met again on August 16, it was another one-goal battle, with the Ice Breakers prevailing 6–5.

That’s 11–9 combined over two games.

Now they meet again — except this time, the championship is on the line.

🧊 ICE BREAKERS: SPEED, SCORING AND BALANCE

The Ice Breakers enter the championship with several players capable of changing a game.

Motty Segal has been one of their most consistent offensive threats, recording 5 goals and 3 assists for 8 points in five games.

Then there’s Wayne Agate, who has found the back of the net six times in only five games. He doesn’t need many opportunities to make an opponent pay.

Levi Granat has contributed four points in six games, Levi Friedman has three assists, and Nachi Granat has scored three times in three appearances.

That gives the Ice Breakers multiple places to turn for offense — something that becomes particularly valuable in a championship game.

And behind them is Grayson Boehning.

Boehning enters the championship with a 3–1 record and 3.75 GAA. Of the goaltending numbers shown for the Ice Breakers, he’s been their most successful option, and he’ll get the championship assignment.

🍊 THE JUICE: MICHAEL EDWARDS CAN TAKE OVER A GAME

If there’s one player the Ice Breakers absolutely have to account for every time he’s on the ice, it’s Michael Edwards.

His numbers jump off the page:

6 games. 10 goals. 6 assists. 16 points.

That’s 2.7 points per game.

Edwards has produced at a different level offensively and gives The Juice the kind of player who can completely change a championship game with one shift.

But The Juice aren’t a one-man team.

Doug DeJong has five points in four games, Jason Sekula has five in five, while Bill Boyle and Jonny Martello have four points apiece.

That’s significant because the Ice Breakers can’t simply sell out defensively against Edwards. The Juice have enough secondary scoring to punish them for it.

In goal, Dan Reid gets the call. His regular-season record sits at 1–4 with a 4.64 GAA, but this is exactly the kind of game where those numbers become secondary. One strong night can erase an entire season’s worth of statistics.
